Are gay
rights civil rights? That question
is being asked across the country and the answer is positively YES! Civil rights are equal
treatment under the law, and they are to be shared by everyone.
Many protest that gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender rights are
“special” rights. But as Julian
Bond, National Chairman of the NAACP, recently said, “It isn’t ‘special’ to be
free from discrimination.”
With this year’s billboard message,
we will be challenging South Carolinians
to think of the LGBT movement as an intrinsic part of the historical struggle
for human rights such as those related to race, gender, disability, and age.
A contribution of $250 buys one day of billboard space … $100 buys 2-3
cable television commercials … and $50 helps pay for billboard production.
Please give as much as you can to
help us spread this important message and start conversations in the press, at
kitchen tables, in church pews, and around water coolers.
