Did you choose to breathe?

If you didn’t, you probably aren’t reading this message. Or, you’re some startling shade of blue or purple. (“Violet, you’re turning violet!”)

Breathing is one of those funny things – easy to take for granted – until you stop doing it.

If you’ve ever run fast or done your own taxes, you know what’s it like to be breathless. In fact, breath is the stuff of life, which is why people remind you to do it when you’re upset.

Believe it or not, there are people out there right now who would rather hold their breath than grant GLBT folks the same rights as everyone else. For some reason, fear, ignorance and anxiety make us collectively hold our breath, which when you think about it, runs pretty contrary to the whole “life” concept.

We say, breathe easy. There’s more than enough air – and equality – for everyone.

How can I help?

GIVE. Help the Alliance For Full Acceptance continue the important work of educating the public – through training in law enforcement, government agencies, schools, churches and universities – through media campaigns like this and through thought-provoking program meetings with compelling speakers – to achieve acceptance without exception for all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens.

SHARE. If our message and mission means something to you, please share it by sending the link to your friends and family. Or follow us Twitter @affacharleston, join us on Facebook or sign up to receive our weekly e-newsletter.

It’s only with your support that we can change hearts and minds, so share what you know. Spread the word – and pass it on. Thank you.
