Truman grew up in Fairhope, Alabama, and Rockwall, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in 1983 with a BBA in Accounting and from Harvard Business School in 1989 with an MBA. He moved to Charleston in 2005 and lives in Wagener Terrace with his partner of eleven years, Doug Warner. He worked in venture capital for twelve years and was CEO of a Dallas-based manufacturing business for four years. He has served on the boards of one publicly-owned and seven privately-owned companies. He is also a CPA. Truman recently served on the board of Darkness to Light, whose mission is the prevention of child sexual abuse, and is the board chair of the Posey Family Foundation, which supports the education of at-risk young women in Texas. He has also served as President of South Carolina Log Cabin Republicans and President of the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas. Truman and Doug enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends, spoiling their two nieces and being bossed around by their lovable labs, Buck and Sugar.
